Using «Rizolin» for roofing and repairing of pitched roofs
Recommendations on laying of self-adhesive waterproof roofing material “Rizolin” while roofing and repairing of pitched roofs. (for metal, slate, wood, OSB).
RIZOLIN FSa or RIZOLIN FS are used for installation of pitched roofs, without restrictions on the angle of slope of the roof.
It should be noted that Rizolin is one of few existing materials on the construction market, which can be used for waterproofing and repairing of carroted metal surfaces without preliminary preparation.
The unique composition of the astringent waterproofing layer of Rizolin possesses strong adhesion and anticorrosion properties, allowing to slow down the process of metal destruction, and due to this — to significantly extend the life of building structures.
Lower layer preparation
Before laying the material, the base of the roof must be cleaned of debris, sand and dust. If necessary, pre-treat the insulated surface with a bitumen primer.
ATTENTION! During roofing and repairing of metal surfaces with RIZOLIN materials, the primer is not applied.
Laying of the material
Sheets should be laid in one layer, in the direction of the slope, on a solid base of metal, slate, wood, OSB and other sheet materials.
The basic stages of laying:
1. Before laying, it is recommended to cut the roll into sectors of the required length
2. Remove the release film from the adhesive surface
3. Turn the sheet the adhesive side down, attach it to the roof surface and roll it with a roller.
Pay particular attention to the exposed surfaces of the roof.
Each subsequent layer must be laid with overlaps of 100mm along the length, and 150mm along the width of the roofing carpet (the size of the overlap may vary depending on the complexity of the roof area).
Installation of junctions
During installation of junctions with up to 1-meter-high parapet, it is recommended to glue the entire area of junction with the material.
If the junction is higher than 1 meter, it is recommended to glue it up to a height of 1 meter, secure it with a pressing bar. Above the bar at height of 10-20 mm, make a 30 mm deep groove in the wall, insert the ebb.
Installation of pipes, ventilation shafts
Isolate pipes or other objects passing through the roof, from the bottom, in full or in part. The material should be wound spirally, in 1-2 layers, with overlapping at each wind.
(Structural diagrams of roof junctions and nodes are shown in the annexes to the roofing guide.)
